The last thing high schoolers would expect to learn at school is how much it would cost to organize a wedding. These ‘adult living’ students from Momence, Illinois learnt that weddings may seem like a whole lot of fun for those attending especially for children, but planning a wedding is no easy task. Roughly 25 juniors and seniors in the class got this unique opportunity to plan a wedding from scratch. They even had a mock wedding ceremony and a reception held with two of the seniors playing bride and groom to complete the picture. For some of them the mock event was a real eye-opener and they were quite amazed at the amount of work and money that goes into organizing a wedding ceremony. However, this wedding with a modified prom dress, a borrowed suit and mock photographers, florists and caterers costed $150 only as against the $20,000 which is believed to be the average cost of a real time affair. The students also learnt about wedding customs and traditions and gained insight into marriage counseling as well. The latter of course is something you would not really find happening at an actual wedding-Extract from Daily Journal.

Weak economic situations may not really help couples who have been saving up for a dream wedding for a few years. To make matters worse pay hikes have also not been very attractive .It is stated that the average party now would cost anywhere around $28,000.The larger the affair the fatter the bill. Concerns over recession may already be forcing couples to get back to their wedding budgets and reorganize things. Event managers are also looking at offering a few things on the house like extended performances and mood lighting. This trend definitely does not bode well for older couples who would be footing their own bills and they may have to look at cutting corners unlike younger ones whose parents would most likely pick up the tab. Some businesses however, may still gain from this kind of an economy and these are the kinds who are mostly mid-segment. Couples who cannot afford live music may opt for a DJ.Here too couples opt for a weekday party as a DJ would cost less on a Thursday. Economic concerns are surely making the employed class look deeper into their pockets and try to make the best out of what they find.

Marquees can be totally tailor-made to suit the occasion that may require them .Wedding marquees especially look extremely fetching and when done right add a very sensitive touch to the ceremony adding to the emotional value of the event. The theme, lighting, color, design, almost all aspects can be taken care of exactly as per your requirements. With fixed venues, wedding decorators and caterers may face a few challenges as not all locations provide sufficient flexibility to allow you to arrange things exactly as you wanted to. Marquees are built to specifications and are extremely flexible .So you can have all shapes and designs and make them look very attractive and at the same time offering your guests shelter and a chance to enjoy fresh air and all the other benefits that an outdoor location can provide.

When bridal showers were in their infancy, they were more of informal, spontaneous events where mostly relatives of the bride just dropped in by inviting themselves. Gradually friends of the family got included and bridal showers started getting more formal in coming years. It became customary for the bride’s family to treat the guests with something in return and bridal shower tea parties, brunches and lunches came into being. Guests are also presented with bridal shower favors often personalized with the name of the bride, or bride and groom including the date of the wedding. For those who can afford it, bridal showers are elaborate affairs sometimes even with interesting themes and magnificent catering arrangements. Event planners even depute event managers who basically take care of everything right from sending out invitations, coordinating with the caterer and ensuring all goes well till the last guest leaves.

Bridal showers are a common practice in the United States although the credit for the origin of the event probably should be going to Belgium for initiating this custom as early as 1860.The bridal shower is a form of a gift for the soon-to-be-married bride .The idea behind this custom was probably to have guests and friends bring gifts for the bride that the married couple could use once they settle down .This was considered as a form of dowry especially when the bride’s family could not afford to set up their daughters house and help her begin married life with all the things that she may need. Bridal showers can be traced back to the sixteenth or seventeenth century in Holland which gradually migrated to the United States by the 1890`s and were more of events that the upper middle class families could enjoy. Nowadays bridal showers are grand affairs often accompanied by elaborate lunch and evening tea parties catered by professional wedding caterers and event planners.

A wedding is a long-term union between two people which is celebrated with ceremonies and rituals. In a Christian marriage the man and woman though separate are believed to be joined by God as one flesh. Although Buddhism is neutral in its view on marriage, it does teach one how to conduct oneself in relationships. Hindus and Muslims in India have elaborate ways of conducting a marriage and customs and traditions vary widely across the different states. In fact given enough time and money one could choose to visit each state and have their wedding ceremony conducted in many different ways. Muslim weddings are also a form of a contract or a legal agreement with specific terms discussed between two families which are documented as well. Judaism considers men and women as incomplete when single and strongly advocates marriage. Different religions have different beliefs and different ways of conducting marriages, each one unique by itself.

There is whole variety in the way weddings are conducted around the world. In double weddings, two affianced couples tie the knot in a single ceremony. Engaged couples and wedding guests travel across seas to exotic locales in what is called as a destination wedding. A weekend wedding is an affair which carries on over the weekend ideally at a resort which is interspersed with spa treatments and golf tourneys for the guests .White weddings are formal and semi-formal weddings common to the UK and US. Military weddings are conducted in a military chapel. Online weddings are conducted on the internet between couples who for some reason are not able to be together, yet do not want to put off getting married. Civil weddings basically have no reference to any religion and are presided over by a local civil authority such as a judge or a mayor at local city or town halls. Christian priests preside over church weddings .Most white weddings are also church weddings. Lately, couples have begun to experiment with ceremonies and locations and are not tied down with religious and civil limitations any more.
